Invisalign for the Perfect Smile

Dentistry has come a long way, today there is no reason not to have a great smile.  There are so many procedures out there that can fix chipped, broken and crooked teeth.  A nice smile can bring you a level of confidence that nothing else can, but when you have damaged teeth you’re often afraid to show your smile to the world, luckily there is Invisalign for the perfect smile.  Here is how Invisalign is better than traditional braces and how it can help you.

How Invisalign is Different from Braces

First there are no metal wires to irritate your mouth instead Invisalign is made from medical grade plastic that is pretty close to invisible.  In fact they look a lot like teeth whitening trays.  You can easily remove them while you are brushing your teeth making oral hygiene that much easier.  Here is what they look like.

Getting Invisalign

The process of straightening your teeth will start with some x-rays, moulds and 3D images so that you get the perfect fit.  The images will show the shape and position of your teeth.  This begins the process of shifting your teeth slowly and carefully from their present position to where your cosmetic dentist needs them to be.  You will get several different aligners based on the moulds of your teeth, each of which is worn for about two weeks and in that time your teeth will shift a little bit.  You can take the Invisalign liners out whenever you need to.   There will be an initial adjustment period for you to get used to wearing them.

Advantage over Regular Braces

You will start to feel the effects in a few months as your teeth gradually start to straighten.  If you have a social occasion coming up you can take them out whenever you like.  Metal braces, on the other hand will stay fixed in your mouth for the entire time that you have them and they cannot be removed.  You have to see your orthodontists for adjustments which can be painful.  Cleaning and brushing your teeth is difficult with metal braces whereas it is not with Invisalign.

Invisalign can cost more that traditional braces but the cost is easily offset by the convenience not to mention the aesthetic appeal of having invisible braces.  You will still at the end of the day have the straight, bright white smile that you are looking for.
